The Obligatory Introductory Crap…

I’m Nikki.  Obviously, or else this page would be subtitled “The Official Stacy Translation” or something.  Born and raised 45 minutes northeast of St. Louis, MO.  In my late twenties now, happily married since late 2005 to my husband, Scott.  Or Scooter.  Or SAINT Scooter, as my father calls him.  He’s earned that last nickname, no question.  Because, as you’re about to find out, I’m a total friggin’ mess…

Why “Tarnished?”

This did not start off as a Christian blog.  I don’t like the title “Christian” because of all of the negative connotations associated with the word.  I am seeking a relationship with God and working to make myself a better person, and I don’t necessarily think that means “pro-life Republican gay-basher.”  This is not a political forum; this is simply a collection of my jacked-up thoughts on Biblical Scriptures.  That all being said, it has evolved into a blog about how Scripture can be applied to my life (as well as yours) without being over-the-top Bible-thumpy, although occasionally it’s still a place where I can vent my frustrations with things I don’t understand.

I carefully chose the word “Tarnished” as my blog title.  I am not a perfect person, or even a superior person.  I’m not a scholar.  Some days, I wouldn’t even classify myself as a mediocre person.  That being said, there will be times that I use ‘colorful’ verbiage to express myself.  It’s not meant to offend.  It’s not for ‘shock factor’.  I have been told by people that one of my most redeeming and respectable qualities is my ability to be 100% genuine.  It gets me into trouble sometimes, but it’s something I pride myself on.  I am very much anti-censorship.  I believe everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions, and should be allowed to express them however they see fit.  I will respect my readers’ right to self-expression; all I ask is that mine is respected in return.

So yeah, I guess that’s it…
